Modern. Cosmopolitan. Cool. Popular. These are some words that characterize the Mod subculture, which was a youth subculture established post World War II in London, England. It was comprised of teens from working-class families who were trying to transcend the mundane, traditional, old-fashioned customs of the 1950s, and adopt a more exciting, expensive, fashionable, and social lifestyle.

The mod movement (also known as modernist), was born in London in the mid ’50s.
After the war many in the young working class did not need to give all their income to their families thanks to the economic post war prosperity. So the young culture known as Mod could use their income to buy statement pieces for this subculture such as tailor made suits and the Italian scooters.Mods gave massive importance to a social and a party life. They use to meet in coffee shops (open 24/7) were they could listen to good music.
This culture was also known for using amphetamines, their drug of choice.
